18th Annual Scientific Meeting

Out 18th Annual Meeting was held online on Thursday November 11th.

Our Keynote speaker for the meeting was Associate Professor Richa Saxena.¬†¬†Richa is an Associate Professor of Anaesthesia at Harvard Medical School, and Principal Investigator at the Center for Genomic Medicine and DACCPM, Massachusetts General Hospital. Richa studies the genetics of circadian rhythms/sleep disorders and their association with type 2 diabetes and other chronic diseases. She spoke with us on “Human circadian genetics”.

We also had Dr Erin Flynn-Evans joining us as an invited speaker. Dr. Flynn-Evans leads the NASA Ames Research Center Fatigue Countermeasures Laboratory. Her laboratory-based research has focused on examining the effects of light on circadian, neuroendocrine, and neurobehavioral responses in humans and how these outcomes relate to the development of countermeasures for shift work. Erin presented: “How do humans sleep in space? What we know and what we need to understand before we go to the Moon and Mars”

This year, our trainee awards were sponsored by Mellius Consulting, and we are very grateful for their support!
